Today is the first day of spring in New Zealand! A big HELLS YES from me! It is a sunny +18 outside and Im just itching to get outside. I read an ariticle on the weekend that said 6 of the last 8 weekends have been rainy, which sounds about right. It is so nice to have some sunshine, even though I am looking at it through a window, it beats the rain. This weekend Im heading to Rotorua to do some downhilling so hopefully the weather sticks around for that. Ive made it through my first NZ winter – wasn’t too bad, but all of the rain in the last month has been getting to me. But who cares because SPRING IS HERE!

Tonight I am heading over to the North Shore of Auckland to check out a car with Michelle’s Dad. It is another Subaru Legacy, very similar to the one I was supposed to look at on Sunday, but it was sold before I got there. I then had another car I was going to go check out, but it sold before I got there as well. I was a little bummed out, but these things happen for a reason. I would really like to get this wrapped up soon, I’m just sick of looking for a car. You really need a car, to look for a car as Auckland is so sprawling it can be a mission to find transport to check the car out. Luckily Ive been able to borrow friend’s cars and get rides through Michelle’s family.
As a traveler it may be best to stick with the Ellerslie Car Fair as everything is in one spot, they have mechanics that can check it out for you and all the paperwork can be done there. There is a Saturday Car Fair at Halsey St near the Viaduct that runs from 9am to 1pm, but all I found there were backpacker vans with high kms. Beware of backpacker cars; usually they have the shit driven out of them and no maintenance. The backpacker always tells you differently, but wouldn’t you if you were trying to sell a car! It is definitely buyer beware! A couple websites to check out for vehicles are aacarfair.co.nz and www.trademe.co.nz
Fingers crossed I score something tonight!
